What You Will Do: The CNC Operator, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures related to the various parts and equipment they are trained and certified to operate. Additionally, operators are tasked with loading and unloading parts to meet production demands, inspecting parts using various precision measuring tools, and making decisions to accept or reject parts. They must also effectively communicate any changes both verbally and in writing.Essential Duties:Operate appropriate CNC flat surface and creep feed grinding equipment and other machinery as necessary to produce the required number of correct parts in a timely manner according to process documentation. This can include operating multiple pieces of equipment simultaneouslyAnalyze and interpret Op sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and travelers to produce products that meet or exceed customer specificationsVerifies conformance of finished workpiece to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment as necessary (micrometers, calipers, gauges [pin, thread, indicator, height], optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines [CMM]Maintain working knowledge of CNC principles, including G and M codesMaintain working knowledge of rotary/linear axesSelects, aligns, and secures fixtures, grinding wheels, and workpieces on machines as necessary to machine parts as requiredAnalyze and interpret CMM reports and properly offset machine dimensions to meet customer specificationsPerform deburring operations to within specified tolerancesDocument actions by updating control charts, travelers, and reporting labor in the ERP systemPerform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditationMaintains a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping dutiesAny other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's valuesAccomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentEffective communication and people skills to maintain a working relationship with Quality, Engineering, and ManagementDependability, integrity, cooperation, and taking the initiative for work responsibilities and challenges are criticalAlways take ownership and be accountable for your actionsReliable attendance and a respectful demeanor are necessaryFollow all Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including the use of proper PPE Education and Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredCNC Machining certificate from a Trade School preferred or acceptable work experience in lieu of schoolingMust meet the ITAR definition of --120.15 U.S. personDuty-related experience, including operation of flat surface grinders preferredExperience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry preferredExperience with G & M codes preferredKey Competencies:Integrity and conscientiousness in all work-related matters Safety conscious always Reliable attendance within acceptable standards of attendance policy Complex problem-solving with critical math skills Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in EnglishMust be able to clearly communicate information to others verbally and in writing in EnglishPhysical Demand Levels:Lift, push, and/or pull up to thirty-five pounds regularlyOperate overhead crane or other lifting equipment when necessary Stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift Walking or climbing stairs as needed to perform job duties as assignedRoutinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materialsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 vision (natural or corrected) required with the ability to pass annual vision test as requiredShift: Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is an hourly position with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and success!Hi-Tek is a drug-free workplace that conducts pre-employment drug and background and random drug screenings.
