As a part of GE Aerospace's groundbreaking, collaborative Additive
Integrated Product Team, you will use your materials expertise and
program management skills to partner with manufacturing, sourcing,
quality, and design engineers to develop new additive hardware and
lead alloy and modality development programs in support of our
commercial and military aviation products. These critical
technologies include multiple additive modalities in several alloys
including Titanium, Aluminum, Nickel, and Cobalt-based alloys.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities in this role may include, but would not be limited
to:
Provide Material Applications Engineer (MAE) support for additively
manufactured hardware, partnering with design and manufacturing to
ensure designs are producible and will meet product intent
Partner with design engineering, Supply Chain, and Colibrium to
increase additive manufacturing capacity/productivity and maintain
product quality through effective quality and SPS planning
Design and conduct studies to characterize the impact of variation
within manufacturing process windows, and use results to recommend
updates to specifications, technical plans, and standard work
instructions
Perform metallurgical evaluations of hardware and other material to
support Manufacturing Readiness and Technology Readiness
Collaborate within cross-functional teams and execute technical
projects & programs required to reduce technical risk associated
with new additive materials and machines, building and leveraging
domain expertise in the additive field
Proactively identify lessons learned and best practices and
appropriately document these items through technical reports and
presentations
Learn and apply structural problem-solving tools like TOPS8D,
DMAIC, and RCCA in order to effectively support cross-functional
teams in finding rapid solutions and generating lasting impact to
processes
Communicate significant developments with leadership and consult on
technical roadmap development
In this role, you will gain or build:

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field
from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 4 years of experience in materials engineering,
application, or manufacturing process development.
Local travel between sites will be required
Able to work in-person and on-site (not virtual or remote) > 95%
of the time
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not
sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for

Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US
government security clearance

Experience with hands-on lab work, fractography, and metallographic
evaluation
Experience with additive manufacturing, quality systems, powder
metal/welding, and interfacing with a manufacturing and design.
Strong background in metallurgy (Nickel-based, Titanium, Aluminum,
and Cobalt alloys)
