Firms.Position summary: Design Engineer within our Traffic
Division. You will be responsible for engineering designs utilizing
the knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to
interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments to complete
traffic engineering designs for roadways, bicycles and
pedestrians.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesDevelop traffic
analyses, operations, and safety studies to improve vehicular and
pedestrian safety.Develop plans for pavement markings, signing,
signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and lighting
tasks.Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the
engineering work in a part of minor and major projects for ODOT and
other municipalitiesAnalyze survey reports, maps, drawings,
blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic
data to plan projectsPerform design computationsDesign projects in
accordance with client specifications and guidelines utilizing
MicroStation and Open RoadsDevelop construction cost
estimatesAssist in the preparation of engineering documents for
advertisement and constructionPrepare and compile contract plans,
specifications and estimatesCoordinate with internal team members
to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and
established qualityNonessential Functions and
ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired
SkillsRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil engineering or
a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program0-4
years of related experienceIntermediate experience with
MicroStation, GEOPAK and OpenRoads Designed (ORD)Proficient in
Microsoft OfficeWritten and communication skillsPreferred
ExperienceEngineer Intern certification (EI) or ability to obtain
within 6-12 months from date of hireExperience working with local
clients at the county and state levelExperience with Synchro,
TransModeler, or HCS is a plusWorking ConditionsWork is performed
within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is
generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing
and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no
hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion
where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and
dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as
